SPICY Sounds: August ’18 ft. Raqx

For this month’s Spicy Sounds, NYC-based DJ Raqx created an hourlong mix that blends together the sounds of women of color and queer and trans people of color from around the globe.

Raqx—born Raquel Bräu Díaz—is a Puerto Rican-German DJ born and raised in NYC. She plays music from all over; it’s not uncommon for you to hear Detroit techno, reggaeton, and salsa back-to-back during her sets. Her sets are full of soulful house music with playful Latin beats, and always lots of ritmo. She is a resident DJ and organizer for Miss/chief—a collective of womxn of color DJs—and has co-hosted and played events with SPICY in the past.
